A popular stretch of Gulf shoreline between Destin and 30A with emerald water, white sand, and easy access to some of the best shopping and dining on the Emerald Coast.

Miramar Beach occupies a prime stretch of Gulf coastline between Destin to the west and the 30A corridor to the east, giving it access to the best of both worlds without the worst of either’s crowds. The beach itself is classic Emerald Coast: fine white sand that squeaks underfoot, water that shifts between pale green and deep emerald depending on the light, and a wide enough shoreline that you can usually find a comfortable spot even on a summer weekend. The area has grown considerably over the past decade, with shopping centers, restaurants, and vacation rentals filling in what used to be a quieter buffer zone between Destin’s resort strip and the boutique communities of 30A.

What makes Miramar Beach work as a destination rather than just a pass-through is its combination of genuine beach quality and convenience. Silver Sands Premium Outlets and Grand Boulevard Town Center sit just off Highway 98, providing shopping and dining options that rival anything in Destin without the traffic headaches of trying to get in and out of the harbor area. The beach access points along Scenic Gulf Drive are well-maintained with parking, restrooms, and showers, and the walk from car to sand is short at most of them.

Our Visit

We captured a 360 photo from the parking lot overlooking the beach so you can get a feel for the access and the view before you make the trip. The vantage point from the lot gives you a good sense of the beach width, the water color, and how the dunes frame the shoreline. Check out the interactive 360 viewer above to look around for yourself.

Location Between Destin and 30A

Miramar Beach’s location is its biggest strategic advantage for trip planning. You are roughly 10 minutes from Destin Harbor and the charter fishing fleet, 10 minutes from Henderson Beach State Park, and 15 minutes from the start of Scenic Highway 30A at Dune Allen Beach. This makes it a strong base for anyone who wants to explore the full range of the Emerald Coast without committing to the higher prices of a 30A rental or the busier atmosphere of central Destin. The stretch of Highway 98 through Miramar Beach has its share of traffic during peak season, but it moves better than the Destin bottleneck near the harbor bridge.

Dining and Shopping

Grand Boulevard Town Center is the dining anchor for Miramar Beach and draws visitors from across the Emerald Coast. The restaurants here lean upscale casual, with several offering outdoor seating and Gulf-adjacent atmosphere. For everyday shopping, Silver Sands Premium Outlets is one of the largest outlet malls in the region and sits right off 98. The combination of beach time in the morning and shopping or dining in the afternoon is a common pattern for Miramar Beach visitors, especially families splitting time between the sand and air conditioning during the hottest part of the day.
